HOSPICE FACTS
Hospice Care, for many, is a taboo word. This is primarily due to the fact that it is often misconstrued. As a Hospice provider in Western Iowa, it is our duty to educate the public to the true benefits of Hospice Care.
Hospice Care Is 100% Covered By Medicare.
Most Medicaid and commercial insurance plans also cover Hospice.
Hospice helps you live life to the fullest.
When a patient is diagnosed with a terminal illness, Hospice Care helps them live life to the fullest during their final days, weeks, and months. According to the 2021 National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) Hospice Facts and Figures report, the average length of stay in Hospice care is 93 days.
Hospice Care Improves Quality Of Life.
Due to the high level of care and attention provided by Hospice Staff, a patient’s overall health tends to improve as we focus on quality of life. According to the NHPCO, over 100k Hospice patients in 2019 graduated out of Hospice Care because they no longer need immediate Hospice Care.
Hospice Care Can Happen Anywhere.
Our skilled staff can provide services in the home, at a nursing home facility and in some cases at the hospital. We’ll come to you, wherever you are most comfortable.
Hospice Care Serves The Patient & Family.
We’re here for you and your family both during and after Hospice Care. Our bereavement services continue to serve the family 13 months after the loved one has passed.
Hospice Care Provides Medical Equipment & Supplies.
We’ve partnered with a leading Healthcare Equipment Company to ensure that we can acquire whatever Hospice equipment or supplies you need within 24 hours or less.
Hospice Care Keeps You & Your Family In Control.
We keep the patient and family in the loop through individualized care plans, encouragement of personal choices and transparent communication with our interdisciplinary team, as well as collaboration with a physician of your choice.
Hospice Care Is Not About Giving Up!
Choosing Hospice isn’t about giving up on life but ensuring that the patient’s end-of-life journey is as comfortable and dignified as possible.
HOSPICE IN THE HOME
Many Hospice patients wish to remain at home so they can be surrounded by friends and family. We can accommodate by bringing any equipment, medications, and supplies needed for Hospice Care directly to your home.
These visits from our staff will address physical symptoms, provide personal care (bathing, grooming, etc.), and coordinate resources from the community and within the family. Respite care, facilitated by our Hospice staff, is also an option.
Our staff will provide the family, friends and caregivers with education concerning your loved one’s specific disease, what to expect as the disease progresses, and how we can help throughout this process.
